Liverpool News: Jamie Carragher makes a statement from Rafa Benitez about Jurgen Klopp | Football | sport

That's what former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher says that his former employers are more determined than Benitez and Gerrard Houllier were at the helm.

Liverpool has been a formidable team in the Premier League this season and is two points behind the leader, Manchester City, even though he has not been beaten yet.

Although their offensive prowess was never questioned, they strengthened Klopp and conceded only five goals in 13 games.

Carragher played under several managers during his stint at Anfield, where he won the Champions League, two FA Cup and the League Cup three times.

And the Sky Sports pundit thinks the Reds seem to know how to defend themselves.

"Does it look a bit like the Liverpool teams I've played in," Carragher said in Monday Night Football.

"Last season, I said that this team was playing football and that our teams had never played.

"But in fact, it may have been a little bit back in the days of Benitez and Houllier.

"They probably play a little more football than us, but they can count on the defense to win them a match."

Carragher also thinks that the Reds are not yet developed and that he wonders when that might happen.

He added: "It's interesting, because the story of the whole season is about when Liverpool will start playing like last season.

"However, we may be at the stage where we are wondering if Liverpool is slightly different this season."

"Do not forget that there is no Philippe Coutinho.

"Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has shown great motivation and a good pace in midfield. The top three were also at the World Cup.

"You now have Virgil van Dijk and a goalkeeper."
