SINGAPORE – A 35-year-old Malaysian was injured in the spine after being hit by a concrete fall in front of a boutique hotel in Little India on Tuesday night (27 November).

The Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) told the Straits Times that it received a call for medical assistance at the Wanderlust Hotel located at 2 Dickson Road at 11:40 pm.

The man was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The videos posted on Facebook show large pieces of concrete scattered on the floor next to the man.

Lee Hwa, a Facebook user, said a "row of stones" was falling from the building.

The man seemed to be in pain and a group of passers-by tried to calm him down before the ambulance arrived.

ST understands that the pieces of concrete that fell were part of the hotel's facade.

The man was sitting on a ledge near the driveway in front of the hotel when he was hit.

He was taken to the hospital in the semi-conscious state with injuries to the spine.

No other injuries have been reported.

ST contacted the Building and Construction Manager, as well as the Wanderlust Hotel, for more information.

In June, a decorative panel collapsed 40 storeys from the top of a Bendemeer Road Housing Commission building, but no one was injured.

The police cordoned off an area about half the size of a basketball court for about 17 hours. Precautionary measures were also taken on neighboring blocks with similar façade characteristics.

The incident occurred a few days after the fall of a height of at least eight floors of a decorative structure of a block HDB Pasir Ris, surprising the inhabitants of the region. There was no injury in this incident as well.
