SINGAPORE: Scoot passengers in Bangkok who were due to leave for Singapore on Monday, November 26 were affected by a delay of 29 hours after their aircraft encountered technical difficulties.

Flight TR869 was scheduled to leave the Don Mueang International Airport at 4:25 pm Monday, but was postponed until 10:10 pm the next day.

In response to a question from Channel NewsAsia, Mr Scoot said the plane was due to leave Tokyo on Monday for Tokyo bound for Singapore via Bangkok, due to technical difficulties.

"The engineers immediately began the rectification work, but given the time required, it was decided to land the plane," said Scoot.

"As a result, flight TR869 was recalculated to leave Nov. 27 at 3:50 pm local time. As far as possible, the affected customers bound for Singapore were relocated on flight TR899 from Singapore via Taipei.

"Meanwhile, the accommodation and meals of the remaining guests disturbed by the delay have been arranged if necessary."

This comes a day after a Singapore-Bangkok Scoot flight that was delayed by almost seven hours due to a technical problem.

Flight re-registered twice

A passenger, who did not want to be identified, said that she and her family would return to Singapore for Don Mueang International Airport on Monday.

She added that her husband, who was traveling with her, had first received an e-mail at 11 am, informing them that their 16:25 flight had been postponed to 18:50 the next day.

They then received an e-mail about half an hour later, informing them that their departure time had been postponed to 10:10 pm on Tuesday.

"Scoot relied on technical reasons, but no other details were provided. We were told that we would be transferred to a hotel and would benefit from accommodation, a free dinner, a free breakfast and lunch, "she said. declared.

She specified that about one hundred affected passengers had been welcomed at the Ibis Bangkok Impact, a hotel located in the Nonthaburi district. Meals were also provided.

She added that Scoot had scheduled a shuttle to drive all concerned passengers to the airport at 5 pm, but she feared having to leave at 1 pm due to hotel policy.

"We did not have the choice to book alternative transportation options … and since our return flight is too late, my husband and I have to take two extra days off," she said.

In a statement updated Tuesday, Scoot announced its intention to add an additional flight to Singapore for the relevant customers in Bangkok.

The new TR8869 flight is due at 17:10 local time. In addition, some customers will also be "re-housed" on the TR611, where more seats have been added.

The TR611 is scheduled to leave Bangkok for Singapore at 18:15 local time.
