SINGAPORE: Esplanade launches a series of new fundraising initiatives to raise the remaining $ 9 million needed for its $ 30 million oceanfront theater.
The project, announced for the first time in April 2017, will be named Singtel Waterfront Theater in Esplanade for a period of 15 years from its opening in 2021, as a tribute to the telecommunications company's donation of $ 10 million a year latest.

A public fundraising campaign called Ground Up will allow members of the public to play a game that will "dig" almost 5,000 lands. Each parcel represents one square meter of land for the upcoming theater and players can choose to donate $ 10 per parcel.
His goal is to raise $ 100,000 from Singapore, with Bowen Enterprises donating up to S $ 50,000.
The Esplanade is also launching a separate campaign that allows donors to adopt or give a limited number of seats to the Singtel Waterfront Theater for a minimum of $ 2,800 per seat.

Philanthropists and businesses can also adopt a variety of spaces, such as its sheltered waterfront corridor, locker rooms and a green space where artists mingle and rest.
The president of the Esplanade, Lee Tzu Yang, said that these fundraising initiatives were aimed at "less relying over time on government support for recurrent financing needs".
