Emmy nominations were announced Thursday (July 12th), and this year's nominee list is filled with musicians who have proven that they can do visual as well as auditory entertainment.

Here is the complete list of musicians nominated for an Emmy 2018 award.

Donald Glover

Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, is no stranger to the scene. He has worked in comedy, film and is the son of prolific actor, Danny Glover. However, it would have been difficult to predict the absolute dominance of the rapper on the list of nominees. Glover's comedy series, Atlanta is nominated for sixteen Emmys, whose rapper is nominated to act, write and direct. In addition, he was nominated to be the guest of Saturday Night Live where he was the host of the series and guest musical.

RuPaul Charles

The finale of Season 10 of RuPaul's Drag Race has just aired, and what better way to celebrate than 39, with twelve Emmy nominations? RuPaul Charles is nominated for Outstanding Hospitality (which he has won in the last two years) and the show is up for the Exceptional Reality Competition program as well as exceptional leadership, exceptional hairstyle and exceptional makeup for special multi-camera or series, among others.

Legend of John

John Legend is now thisclose at an EGOT. The singer is nominated for two Emmys for Jesus Christ Superstar: Live in Concert for his work as a producer and for his leading role as Jesus Christ. If he wins, he will have won a prize for each of the four Big Four awards: Emmys, Grammys, Oscars and Tonys.

Sarah Bareilles

Singer-songwriter Sarah Bareilles wins her first Emmy nomination Thursday night for an outstanding supporting actress in a limited series or film category for her fantastic performance of Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar: Live in Concert

Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Live at the Apollo, Bruno Mars is also in the running to win its first Emmy this season of awards.

The 70th annual Emmys will be broadcast on NBC on September 17 from the Los Angeles Microsoft Theater, with animators Michael Che and Colin Jost of Saturday Night Live .
