The former boss of Arsenal wants to return to work at the beginning of the year and is closely linked to the work of Bayern Munich.
Niko Kovac is under pressure after a mediocre start with Bayern fifth in the Bundesliga after 12 matches.

This could mean that he has had talks with club officials about the future.
Wenger recently said that he wanted to take his next job in January after a break since the summer, having left Arsenal after 22 years of leadership.
The legendary 69-year-old boss, who has won the Premier League three times, wants to resume his leadership duties.
He rejected an offer from Fulham last week before Claudio Ranieri's appointment to the first Premier League change of the season.
"I think (I will) start again on January 1. I do not know yet (where) .I feel rested and I'm ready to work again," he told German newspaper Bild last month.
"There are associations, national teams, it could also be in Japan, since my 22 years at Arsenal, I have a lot of experience at different levels.
"There are inquiries from around the world."
Bayern beat Benfica 5-1 in the Champions League last night to lighten the pressure a bit and Arjen Robben was delighted to help the boss.
"I was looking forward to our coach today." the winger said.
"As a person, he deserved it, it belongs to us."
But he admits things could turn up again if they do not win this weekend.
"We have to see this," he said to the question of whether his job was secure.
"It's only a game. If you do not win on Saturday, it will be a problem again."
Bayern Munich sports director Hasan Salihamidzic insists that there has been no contact with Wenger and the club remains behind Kovac.
He said: "There has been no contact with Arsene Wenger 100% We will go to Bremen with Niko Kovac as our manager and we will win.
"We have often failed to keep such a centering performance for 90 minutes, but we did really well (against Benfica) and we can now build on that."
