The former boss of Man Utd, David Moyes, said that he had agreed to sign Toni Kroos this summer before being sacked at Old Trafford.
Moyes, 55, succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer of 2013-2014 and lasted only 10 months after being sacked in April 2014 by Ryan Giggs as interim manager.
The former boss of Everton said that he was about to sign the German international Kroos, who was recently linked back to United, this summer before the midfielder finally signed for Real Madrid.
Moyes claimed to have met the player's wife and that Kroos had "agreed" to do so, but when Moyes was given the go-ahead, the deal failed and Kroos signed a six-year contract with Bernabeu for a fee. about 20 million pounds.
"Toni Kroos had agreed to come to Manchester United with me," Moyes said on talkSPORT.
"I met him with his wife and we agreed on everything when he was at Bayern Munich. But that would only be done at the end of the season before joining Real Madrid. "
Moyes, who later headed Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham, but did not spend more than 12 months in any of these roles, believes he should have stayed longer at Old Trafford.
