Most children would think having Mary Poppins for a mum is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
But Emily Blunt fears her daughters will think it’s something quite atrocious.
The British actress is about to become an icon for a whole new generation of youngsters when Disney’s much-anticipated sequel Mary Poppins Returns hits the screens next month.
Yet the 35-year-old is convinced her discerning daughters Hazel, four, and Violet, two, won’t be quite as impressed with the reboot. “It’s about time I did something that is kid-friendly for them,” says Emily, who shot to fame in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada .

“They can’t exactly see Girl on the Train , and Sicario is maybe not quite appropriate. But they are huge fans of Julie Andrews so they will probably just reject my version altogether!”
Emily, who’s married to actor John Krasinski, adds that the girls don’t actually like seeing her on screen at all. She explains: “My oldest one saw a clip of one film I was in before she melted down and was like, ‘I don’t want to see you in the movie!’.”
Just get them some popcorn, Emily. Because a spoonful of sugar will help the movie go down – and most bags contain at least six.
