Intel begins to provide new universal Windows drivers for some Windows 10 1809 graphics chips

Following the release of the Windows 10 October 2018 update, Intel announced this week the introduction of universal Windows drivers for its Intel graphics drivers (via ZDNet). The transition from legacy drivers to universal Windows drivers is apparently something that Microsoft needs in the Windows 10 October 2018 and Windows Server 2019 updates, and as of this month, Intel claims that all driver updates for Intel products listed in the October 2018 update and other platforms will be universal Windows drivers.

According to this Microsoft support page, the purpose of Windows Universal Drivers is to allow hardware manufacturers to create drivers that will work on all UWP editions of Windows 10, including Windows 10 in S Mode, Windows 10 IoT Core, and so on. that he has worked with Microsoft to make this transition "as transparent as possible" and that the chip maker is recommending consumers to purchase new universal Windows drivers for their chips directly from Windows Update or from manufacturers Computers or the Intel download center.

• Intel® HD Graphics 500/505 (formerly Apollo Lake)
• Intel® HD Graphics 510/515/520/530 (formerly Skylake)
• Intel® Iris ™ Pro Graphics 580 (formerly Skylake)
• Intel® Iris ™ Graphics 540 (formerly Skylake)
