If Google is your point of contact for questions and moments in life, you'll be happy to know that the search giant's flight comparison service is now available in Singapore.

With the launch of Google Flights, Singapore based users can view the full price list of airline tickets in one google query. For example, a simple search for "flights to Bali on Monday" will display a list of airfare prices to Bali for different airlines departing from Singapore on the nearest Monday.

I've tried this new feature to see how it was different from the existing flight comparison portals such as Expedia and Skyscanner.

As a price conscious travel enthusiast, there were a number of features that I found extremely useful.

Here's how to get the most out of your flight search:

A search on Google for "flights to Bali" will give you immediately a price list, from the cheapest to the most expensive, by different airlines from Singapore.

You can also go to the Google Flights page and search there.
The query will not only return a price list for flights to Bali, but will also recommend the best flights that Google will choose based on the "best compromise between price and convenience". This is based on factors such as duration, number of stops and airport changes during stopovers.

Google says that although some of these travel partners can compensate for this loss, it does not affect the ranking of the results.

Useful details – such as trip duration, flight number and flight duration prediction – are available when you click on a specific flight.

According to Google, the prediction of flight delays is based on historical data and is accurate to 85%. Very useful information to have if you are in the process "kiasu"(Fearing to fail or lose) and needing to get to the destination at a specific time.

Google even tells you how much room you will have for the legs on each flight and whether this space is of average quality or not. The information on legroom I found in the Bali flight request was 71 cm (below average) on low-cost airlines, 76 cm (average) for Silk Air flights and 81 cm (above average) for Singapore Airlines services.

You will also be able to see additional facilities provided by the flight, such as Wi-Fi, on-board charging, as well as its video and entertainment system.

To refine your search, you can also filter the results with options such as baggage, stops, airlines, prices, schedules, connecting airports, the length of the rest period and the duration of the flight. All of these filter options were clearly displayed at the top of the screen and I really liked the amount of information I could get at a glance.

At the top of the results, you'll find a section on flight information that provides a more detailed breakdown of the information you need.

You can choose to compare flight prices within a week of your selected dates.

Or you can see how the prices will change a few months after the dates you have selected.

For my request in Bali, flights were the most expensive in February. The dates chosen had the lowest flight rates, so it seems like I made the right choice!

For cities where multiple airports are available, Google Flights will also tell you which airport is closest to your destination and how much it costs to fly to each of the listed airports.

And if you still do not know if a city is worth visiting, you can click on "Tips" to access the Google Travel Guide, which provides information on what to do in the area. You can also access information from the Google Trips app.

When I clicked on the travel guide, I was given information about places of interest in Bali, as well as a suggested itinerary for a day.

There is also an option to display places of interest on a map so you know how far away is a point of interest. This is especially useful for route planning. So you know which activities to group on a given day.

Verdict:

The level of detail of Google Flights is pretty impressive.

In addition to providing the most useful information on the first page of his search results, what convinced me is the ease with which it is easy to use the functions and read the information I needed.

Insights is the most useful feature, in my opinion. Instead of having to do several searches, I just had to click on the tabs to get an overview of all the information I needed to help me decide when I wanted to go on a trip and which airports would save me the most time. .

Those who are used to booking their trips online know that most other websites can take a long time to search for flight comparison information. So, another good thing that I found with Google Flights, is that the search results and analyzes were loaded almost immediately.
