The late owner of Leicester City was a fan of the cup competition, adding a little more meaning to the club's run this year.
Claude Puel said Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha loved the Carabao Cup, which gave Leicester City extra motivation to pay homage to the race.
The Foxes host Southampton Tuesday night for the fourth round clash that was postponed following the crash of the helicopter that killed Srivaddhanaprabha in October.
A race in the competition would be helpful for the club through emotional time and would also serve as an appropriate tribute to the deceased owner.
"It is important to play all these games with good will, good aggression and mentality, we have the squad to maintain a good level," said Puel.
"It will be a good opportunity for the team to play together and win something.We know that it is important to win something.The cup will be important to us.
"The president liked it a lot and it will be our willingness to try to play.We know the difficulties of the cup, but it's a good motivation."
The Wizards will be without defender Harry Maguire, while midfielder James Maddison will serve a one – match suspension in Tuesday's game, at the end of a series that saw the club shoot three of his last four Premier League games.
A good Tuesday performance would mean a lot emotionally, but it would also do wonders for the team 's confidence as the winter months approach.
"Before, we had a good understanding, but of course after an event [like that] we have more attention, more focus on the goal, "said Puel.
"It's a common goal, and the most important thing is to play together, play and pay tribute to our president at the end.
"It's our responsibility and I hope we can have this in our heads all the time."
