Marvel Announces Mind-Bending What If Series

  Marvel Comics What Ifs

Marvel brings back their alternative universe "What If" with a series of comics that look incredibly cool and that also break my brain.

Marvel ran "What If …?" since the 1970s, intended to explore what would have happened if certain events in the life of our heroes had been very different.

As a result, we have a Peter Parker following the Punisher Road after the assassination of Uncle Ben, a Magik growing up in a gentler world that embraces him, Well, magic, Ghost Rider appearing in front of a Nordic rock band with a really straight flamboyant guitar, Thor grew up in Jotunheim among the Frost Giants in a universe where they triumphed Asgard, the X-Men seeming to exist in a landscape sadly called EXE / scape, and the worst guy in the high school Flash Thompson becoming Spider-Man instead of Peter

Up is down and down is up and I'm 100% on board with these. From the descriptions, I would say that Thor and X-Men are the ones who definitely go on my draw list, but I'd love to get my hands on it all. It's fascinating to take characters we know so well and put them in situations and environments as strange. How much do they always remain at the heart of the heroes we know and love, and what do we lose and gain by becoming these new ones ourselves?

You can read the official descriptions of the next What Ifs below. Snaps to Marvel for intentional over-the-top hyping here, which is a lot more hilarious to read than your normal press release. These will hit the comic book stores in early October.
