Harry's Speech

"Good evening and thank you for the warm welcome we have received since arriving in this beautiful country.

" Meghan and I are delighted to be here in Dublin and in the beautiful gardens of Glencairn. And at Taoiseach, a special thank you.

"As some of you know, he showed my father in his hometown of Cork a few weeks ago, so we are very grateful to you for joining us tonight. nice to know that he did not get bored.

"My dad told us last week how much he enjoyed his recent visit and said that each of his visits over the years occupies a special place in his memory.

"My grandmother the Queen also spoke of her own visit in 2011 and the fantastic welcome that she also received.

" I am here with you for this beautiful evening It's easy to see why Ireland has such a special place in the heart of my family and everyone who comes here.

"We are very happy to be here for our first international official visit as a married couple and hope it will be the first of many.

" As closest neighbors, the relationship between the United Kingdom and Ireland is unique. Our common history is long and complex.

"Of course there were some difficult and sometimes tragic times of this relationship.

" Tomorrow we hope to have the opportunity to reflect on some of these difficult passages in our history when we visit Croke Park and the famine memorial. "During this visit, we will also celebrate how united we are. This is a very special relationship between two sovereign and proud countries."

"We share common values, culture, ties, and friendship. business, family ties and possibly a similar sense of humor.

"Our relationship is of course guided by our history but it is also dynamic and forward-looking.

" Tonight we are extremely lucky to be joined by many of those who are shaping the future of Ireland. You embody the energy that characterizes this amazing country.

"I have the utmost confidence in the friendship, collaboration and mutual understanding that our two countries have built up over the years and will grow.

" I will end by picking up the words of President Higgins during his extraordinarily successful visit to the United Kingdom in 2014, which we still remember with admiration. He quoted the traditional Irish saying; We live in the shadow of each other. We protect each other and we rely on each other to shelter.

"This feeling is as apt now as it was then that we draw our strength from each other, neighbors, partners and especially friends." [ad_2]
