Not to be outdone by Toyota's announcement of a Prius at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Ford has released a teaser promoting the best-performing variant of one of its iconic models – the Mustang Shelby GT500.
However, the car does not come to Los Angeles. According to Ford's social network accounts and a new display in California, the vehicle will only be on display January 14, 2019. As you might have guessed, it's in the middle of the North American Auto Show. American.
In anticipation of the NAIAS 2018, Ford launched a video presentation announcing that the new GT500 would arrive with more than 700 horses. The builder was less present at the event although we had at least learned that the model was in preparation. Since then, camouflaged test mules have popped up everywhere and the Ford marketing team has released some teasers detailing the new look of the Mustang. But no official revelation date has been announced before this week.

These teasers have already given us a pretty good idea of what the model will look like, but we would speculate if we told you what's under the hood. Whatever it is, Ford supercharges it. It's not really a revelation, as Ford has been doing for years. Our best guess is that the manufacturer plans to upgrade the 5.2-liter flat-plate V8 that's currently found in the current Mustang GT350 and snap a snake.
The production of the unit is also debated. After promising at least 700 horses in early 2018, Ford has reduced its claim to "more than 650". Unconfirmed leaks suggest that Ford is still targeting the moon, however. We heard everything from 670 to 750 ponies and we would imagine that the truth will be somewhere in the middle. These same leaks also required a running weight of 4,200 pounds and a top speed of 200 mph. Information on the rest of the GT500 material was more difficult to pin down. A fully independent suspension is basically guaranteed, but we do not even know if Ford will offer a manual variant.
Fortunately, we should be able to find out in January when The Blue Oval slaps us at the model presented at the 2019 North American Auto Show in Detroit.
