A professor of geography at the National University of Singapore who had driven his Maserati sports car against the flow of traffic several times two months ago was sentenced Monday, November 26 to a fine of up to $ 5,000 and a driving ban for 13 months.

Instead of waiting for the road in front of him to clear, Yeung overtook the car, crossing the single continuous white line and taking the lane reserved for vehicles traveling in the opposite direction. He then returned to his lane on the right side of the road.
Shortly after, Yeung doubled in the same way another car in front of him that changed lanes from left to right. Yeung entered the lane reserved for vehicles traveling in the opposite direction, before returning to the appropriate lane.
Later, Yeung tried to overtake a truck in front of him. He drove fast, crossed the pavement of the central divider and entered the tracks to find vehicles traveling in the opposite direction, in the opposite direction of traffic.

Yeung, fined three times for speeding, careless driving and negligent driving between 2012 and 2016, could have been sentenced to a term of imprisonment of up to one year with the fine .
In response to media questions, a NUS spokesman said: "The NUS is currently reviewing the court's decision and will decide if disciplinary proceedings will be instituted against Professor Henry Yeung."
