Passenger traffic at Changi airport up 4.3% in October, Transports

The CHANGI airport welcomed 5.38 million passengers last month, an increase of 4.3% over the previous year.

Aircraft movements increased 3.2%, with 32,800 landings and take-offs, while air cargo capacity increased 2.1% to 190,000 tonnes, the Changi Airport Group announced on Thursday. (CAG).

For the month of October, all regions recorded growth, with European traffic up 15%, boosted by travel to the United Kingdom and Germany.

Traffic to and from the United States has increased by 28%, although this increase is against a relatively small base, said CAG.

In addition, Changi's main destinations, such as Denpasar, London and Melbourne, also recorded double-digit growth.

As of November 1, Changi Airport had more than 100 airlines connecting Singapore to some 400 cities worldwide. With more than 7,200 scheduled flights a week, a plane takes off or lands in Changi about once every 80 seconds, CAG said.
