The former Arsenal midfielder thinks his team has improved before the Europa League match this week in Scotland
Santi Cazorla said Villarreal was at his best before the Europa League match against the Rangers this week.
The Spaniards have won their first league game since last September, beating Real Betis 2-1 to get out of the relegation zone.
In two games from the end of the Europa League group, Villarreal leads the standings with six points ahead of Spartak Moscow and the Rangers.
According to results elsewhere, the win in Scotland could guarantee Villarreal's qualification to the next phase and the former Arsenal star believes his team has what it takes to win all three points.
"We hope this victory [against Betis] will be a turning point for our season, "said Cazorla.
"We just had to beat Betis, there could not be any more excuses, and I think for the first time this season, and certainly in the league, we played a full game for 90 minutes.
"I felt we had reached our best form and the important thing now is to continue our momentum with a win in Glasgow.
"We have set our standards and we have to keep them in the Europa League now."
Forward Gerard Moreno echoed the remarks of Cazorla, who had finally escaped the drought of his goals by scoring his second goal in the league this season.
"When an attacker does not score, he gnaws his head, you become too eager to score," he said.
"Now that I've finally scored again, I can relax." From the final whistle, I turned my attention to Glasgow and it will be a very tough match against the Rangers.
"All the club needed this win – the players, the coaching staff and the fans – we have a chance to take a big step towards qualifying on Thursday if we can win in Glasgow.
"If we play as we did against Betis, we are able to get the good result in Scotland."
