Rey Mysterio reveals why he had to leave the WWE

His body was not able to handle the stress and he needed some free time. However, he notes that he and the WWE knew that it was only a temporary goodbye.

I needed to be around my family and tell a lot of things that had escaped me over the years, just being on the road, traveling and spending so much time on this sport that I have a little left my family aside and I did not do it. Rey stayed on the independent stage for a short while before joining Lucha Underground. He made his WWE debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble and has been on and off the screen ever since.
