Singapore Proposes Tougher Rules for Mobile Operators – Tech News

Singapore is proposing to step up regulation of companies such as Grab and Go-Jek, aligning service rules with taxi operators to better protect the safety of commuters and drivers.

The city-state regulators have asked the public to comment on the subject until February 21, due to deficiencies in the management of street and service control services, according to a statement. Taxi companies and relay companies "provide the same basic service of transporting commuters from one point to another," said the Land Transport Authority. According to the regulations in force, taxi operators must be licensed, unlike the relay companies.
