More than 50 years ago, Singapore had to undergo water rationing during a prolonged drought.
In the years that followed, a lot of effort was made to make sure the faucets did not empty and that the water was drinkable.
Last year, every Singaporean used 143 liters of water a day.
That's 1.95 billion liters of water a day, enough to fill 782 Olympic-sized pools.
To meet this demand, the National Water Agency, PUB, has developed four sources, called the four national faucets.
These are: the local watershed, the Newater, desalinated water and imported water.
"We are planning our infrastructure well ahead of demand, so we can still meet the demand for water," said Harry Seah, Deputy General Manager of PUB.
"The water we produce … a lot of work has been spent on it."
Aged 58 and a member of the PUB for 35 years, he hopes Singaporeans will see water as a valuable resource.
