Other indicators could indicate the weakness of the iPhone in China. The number of searches for iPhone on the Chinese search engine Baidu fell 48% in February, marking the fifth consecutive month of decline, according to Longbow Research. The company says the iPhone search trends on Baidu are indicative of demand in China.
According to analysts, Apple would probably have suffered from the general market downturn and its competitor cheap, Xiaomi, could also suffer from increased competition.
"Apple and Xiaomi continue to be the biggest losers, while Huawei, Vivo, and OPPO continue to take more ownership," said Neil Shah, director of research at Counterpoint Research.
