Dick Grayson does not feel quite like him lately. Since the bad batman KGBeast put a bullet in his head Batman # 55, it was not the easy-going ex-Robin or the friendly Nightwing neighborhood that fans know and love.
In the last issues of Nightwinghe did everything to stand out from his past. Although he was physically cured of his injuries, he lost 15 years of memory. While remembering his childhood as a trapeze artist at Haley's Circus with his parents, he has forgotten everything about his time as a hero.

For him, Barbara Gordon and Alfred Pennyworth are perfect strangers instead of his closest friends. While he said he did not care if people called him Gray, Grayson, Richard, Rich, Ric or Dick Nightwing # 50, it installs on the name "Ric Grayson" in Nightwing # 51, creating a new identity.
No matter what name he uses today, Grayson has totally separated from his time as a professional superhero. But this ex-Robin sang a very different tune not long ago.
After it was revealed that it was Nightwing on live TV in the 2013 crossover Always bad, Dick started working as a secret agent for Spyral in the critically acclaimed series Grayson. At the end of this series, Dick fought Dr. Dedalus, the wicked runner, who took Dick's body and erased all traces of Grayson's story from the public consciousness.
During the final confrontation in his mind, Dick essentially defeated the doctor by embracing his roles as Robin, Nightwing, and Batman, and by scrambling the brains of the bad guys with his Hypnotic hypnotic implants.
While most of the world had forgotten his identity, Grayson felt more than himself, which prompted him to return to Nightwing. But now, this dynamic has been reversed. Grayson does not feel like Robin, Nightwing or even Dick, and he is not the hero, son, or friend that all his former allies want him to be.
Over the last ten years, Batman has lost memory and mind during a few similar incidents. After the evil Doctor Hurt broke Batman's spirit in 2008, the Dark Knight took over the role of Batman from Zurr-En-Arrh, a backup personality he had created years earlier. When the Endgame crossover events of 2014 erased Batman's memory by Bruce Wayne, he used a machine to restore his mind to a fixed save point.

Even though Dick never had the foresight to do anything, technology could still be the key to helping him recover his lost memories. The implants of Grayson Hypnos were disabled when he left Spyral, but they could still be somewhere in his head.
During a dream sequence in Nightwing # 51, he dreams of Batgirl and Robin with spirals in the form of fingerprints that darken their faces. The effect looks a lot like Grayson's face when he was masked by his Hypnos implants during his Grayson-the secret missions. As they have been involved in so many upheavals of the mind in Grayson, they could help to unravel the spirit of Grayson now.
Dick Grayson has clearly preserved some of his old memories, he just can not access them at the moment. On instinct, he still gave a Nightwing-style beatdown to a potential aggressor before realizing that he had punched him. In addition to his dream of fighting crime, he still remembers speaking German and the strangely specific knowledge that he has acquired throughout his life.
Even though Nightwing's future is dark right now, it's probably only a matter of time before Dick Grayson rediscovers who he really is.
