EDINBURGH: A seven-year-old Scottish boy received a touching surprise when he discovered that a letter he had written to his dead father had been "delivered unhindered" by the British Post Office.
Jase Hyndman recently wrote a letter for his father's birthday, his mother Teri Copland told Facebook on Wednesday (November 28).
They did not know that they would soon receive a reply from the Royal Mail telling them that their letter had been delivered.
Written by Sean Milligan, deputy director of the office of delivery, Royal Mail's response stated that sending the boy's letter was a "difficult challenge to avoid the stars and other galactic objects en route to the paradise".
He added: "However, rest assured that this important piece of mail has been delivered … I know how important your mail is to you, I will continue to do everything in my power to ensure delivery to paradise. safely."
Copland said she was grateful for the kind gesture.
She wrote: "I can not really say how moved he is to know that his father has received his card.
"You did not have to make the effort to do that, you could have ignored it but the fact that you made the effort for a little boy that you did not never met is such a beautiful thing to do. "
She added: "Royal Mail, you have just restored my faith in humanity."
According to the BBC, Jase and her sister Neive, 10, have been celebrating their father's birthday every year since his death in 2014.
Jase was "overwhelmed" when he learned that the letter had been "delivered" and repeated that "my dad really got my letter, Mom," Copland told the BBC.
His social media posting on Royal Mail's letter has been shared more than 250,000 times since Wednesday.
Copland added, "I want people to realize that a small gesture of kindness can have a fantastic impact on the life of someone … Royal Mail actually took part in it and that comforts me a lot. "
