Netflix is certainly no stranger to comic adaptations, and it seems like their list is increasing a bit more.
According to Variety, the titan streaming ordered at ten episode the first season of Daybreak a series of real action based on Brian Ralph's dark comic book novel of the same name.
The television adaptation of Daybreak ] is expected to follow Josh, a 17-year-old pariah who is looking for his missing girlfriend, Sam, in the post-apocalyptic Glendale, California. He is joined by a motley group of outsiders, including Angelica, a 12-year-old pyromaniac, and Josh's former tyrant, Wesley, who became a pacifist samurai. Josh and the group try to stay alive in the middle of the horde of Mad Max gangs (perverse jokers, cheerleaders become Amazon warriors), zombie creatures called Ghoulies, and all that this new world throws at him [19659004] novel, which debuted in 2006, has presented a similar genre of history from the perspective of the first person, and has become a cult hit in the process.
Daybreak is co-created by Aron Eli Coleite and Brad Peyton, both will be executive producers alongside Jeff Fierson. Coleite, whose work includes Star Trek: Discovery Hostages and Hero, will serve as a showrunner. Peyton, who previously directed Rampage and San Andreas will serve as director.
This only marks the latest comic book series for Netflix to take under his list, after picking Locke & Key for a series order earlier this week
