Sea of Thieves Fans have had a constant demand throughout the game's life: more content. The first three expansion packs, all of which were free and were supplemented by mechanisms still available today, all aimed to meet this need. The map is much more complete – and much larger, with the new Devil's Roar region – and there is still much more to do. Wrapped booty It's less about adding new content than giving new life to the game's best features.
While the draw of the previous extensions was a kind of giant mystery and a monster that kept him, Wrapped bootyThe basic mechanics is much less tangible. A new type of weather emerges, the fog, unfolds and covers the sea, hiding the threats of the players. Not only do you need a friend on the lookout, but megalodon and kraken have been revisited; now they drop loot.
Kraken has been upgraded to breed more frequently and provide more than an epic boss battle. There is a new type of attack, the kraken slap, which will be more effective in inflicting damage to ships. Each tentacle by a crew will reward a loot. The megalodon receives new models for a visual upheaval and now drops its loot after being defeated.
Skeleton ships are also receiving love. The skeleton galleons and the new skeleton sloop can emerge from around the world as an encounter. Sometimes they are passive, and sometimes they will hunt down the players. The classic Fort Skeleton Fort can now appear on six other islands, giving the pirates nine places in total to fight the spooky threat. This is interesting because of the radically different arrangement between the islands; some require a lot of rocks and stress points, while others are more open and chaotic.
The menacing siren statues also come back to Sea of Thieves, and they are now depositing on their destruction gems that can be sold for the reputation and gold of the Merchant Alliance. The Merchant Alliance also has a new "old bone dust box" and, more importantly, a "Mega-Keg" that explodes with a much larger radius, which is perfect for casting a difficult galleon or cleaning a ton of skeletons very quickly. .
Add new customization options for ships, including guns and wheel, as well as a host of quality of life changes (including the new Pirate Legends final content), and it's an extension very intriguing. It's not as sexy as a big new boss fight or map region, but it's one of the extensions that seems the most focused on maintaining the Sea of Thieves living experience. Wrapped booty is like a hit track spinning the best moments of Sea of Thieves'Lifetime so far.
This will be the last 2018 expansion pack. In 2019 we will have a new game mode in The Arena. The fifth expansion will divide the game world into two queues: Adventure and Arena. Arena will focus on fast PvP matches between teams in confined spaces, with pirates hurrying to collect as much treasure as possible, both at sea and on land. Wrapped booty is an extension focused on what will now be called the Adventure mode, which is the standard Sea of Thieves experience. Rare has declared its intention to maintain and actively develop both queues after the release of Arena in 2019.
