Cha, better known by his pen name, Jin Yong, died Tuesday at the Sanatorium & Hospital of Hong Kong at the age of 94. He was also a journalist and academic.
On Friday evening, the director of the bureau, Wang Zhimin, went to Cha's home in Hong Kong and relayed Xi's condolences and the homage of other central government officials to the wife of Cha, Lin Leyi, according to a statement from the office.
