The national stadium may have a capacity of 55,000, but it took less than four hours for K-pop BTS boys' concert tickets to be sold after they went on sale yesterday.
Sales began at 10:00 am and at 1:30 pm, concert organizer One Production announced on its Facebook and Twitter accounts that the January 19 show had run out.
Some fans began queuing five days before the sale of tickets, priced between $ 88 and $ 348, at the box office outside the Kallang Wave Mall.
Malaysian Melody Siow of Kuala Lumpur managed to get two tickets. The personal assistant in her 30s accessed the Sports Hub ticket website approximately one hour prior to the start of ticket sales.
"I am very excited and happy, I can not wait," said Ms. Siow, who bought a pair of $ 268 tickets for her and her sister.
Many were disappointed. One of them was housewife Sophia Phang, a 36-year-old American woman based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
She said that she was in the virtual waiting room of the Sports Hub ticket website since 2 am yesterday. Her husband was also trying to get tickets on her laptop, she said.
"Of course, I'm disappointed," said the 20-year-old K-pop fan, adding that she would rather try to get tickets for concerts in Thailand and Hong Kong. BTS will perform in Hong Kong and Bangkok in March and April, respectively, as part of its Love Yourself World Tour.
Yesterday morning, the Sunday Times found more than 20 messages on the online Carousell sales platform claiming to sell tickets for the BTS concert here. Many requested commissions of at least $ 50 for each ticket.
