Known for decades as master of the visual feast, Tsui Hark returns to our screens with his take on 7th century China as a backdrop for his latest epic Detective Dee .
As the third installment of the franchise on detective detective, Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kingdoms will hit Chinese theaters on Friday.
Similar to the Chinese version of Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot, Dee's role was taken over by Taiwanese actor Mark Chao, who faces unprecedented rivals in new extravagance.
