WINONA, Minnesota (WKBT) – The Winona Symphony Board of Directors Welcomes Erik Rohde as New Director musical and conductor.
Rohde holds a PhD in Musical Arts from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and a Diploma in Performance Violin and Biomedical Engineering.
As musical director of Winona's Symphony, Rohde will select the repertoire and conduct the Symphony in three concerts for the 2018-19 season, including an Autumn Concert, a Children's Concert and a Spring Concert. .
Rohde has performed and directed recitals and festivals throughout the United States and in France, Austria, Italy, Hungary and China. In addition to responsibilities with the Winona Symphony, Rohde is Assistant Professor and Director of String and Orchestra Activities at Indiana State University and Artistic Director and Conductor for the Salomon Chamber Orchestra. Rohde also plays with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, the Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra, the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, and is the violonist of the music duet sonic apricity

The last concert of the Symphony's 2017-2018 season in March marks the 110th anniversary of gold and the retirement of Music Director Don Lovejoy. Dr. Lovejoy has been Music Director of the Symphony since 2009. He has also served as Group Director and Co-ordinator of Brass Studies at Winona State University.
