Single dose of coronavirus vaccine needed for people previously infected – POLITICO

The coronavirus vaccine should be extended to people who have already had COVID-19, France’s highest health authority announced on Friday.

Since December, this group has been advised to wait three months after recovery before being offered a first dose. But in today’s statement from the Haute Autorité de Santé, this interval has been extended to six months. HAS also recommended that you only need one dose instead of two.

The latest immunological research suggests that people enjoy natural protection after COVID-19 for nearly six months, HAS explained.

There are, however, two exceptions. Immunocompromised people should be vaccinated according to the two-dose schedule, within three months of the onset of infection. And people who have received a first dose but develop an infection within days of getting the vaccine should not receive the second dose within the usual time, but within three to six months of infection.
