A theoretical exchange between the Trail Blazers and 76ers involving Ben Simmons has crept into conversations since Philadelphia’s less-than-ideal playoff exit. Simmons, who could be on the move before the start of next season, apparently doesn’t have Portland at the top of his list of desirable destinations.

According to NBA reporter Jason Dumas, Simmons is interested in going to California if he is traded.

“He is [Simmons] read tea leaves like everyone else. He sees Toronto. He sees Portland. To be frank, the young socialite that he is, he’s not really trying to go into either of these situations. It’s open to Californian teams, that’s what I’ve been told.

Dumas went on to explain that Simmons is not in contact with the Sixers or his teammates at the moment.

Last season, Simmons finished behind Rudy Gobert in the Defensive Player of the Year vote. The former No.1 pick averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 58 outings during the 2020-21 campaign.
