SLO Co. Adds 34 New COVID-19 Cases Tuesday

San Luis Obispo County added 34 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the county’s total to 6,345 confirmed cases as of December 1.

This is the smallest one-day increase in about a month.

Paso Robles and Nipomo both added eight cases each on Tuesday, followed by Atascadero at six and San Luis Obispo with three. Several other locations added only one case.

According to the public health department, eight people are hospitalized, including a patient in intensive care. Another 900 people are recovering at home and health officials say 5,395 people have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County has had 38 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Breakdown of cases by location:

  • San Luis Obispo – 1,492
  • California Men’s Colony (inmates) – 295
  • Cal Poly (on campus) – 250
  • Atascadero State Hospital (patients) – 24

The location of an additional 16 cases is under investigation, and a further seven are listed as “other,” which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.

Community COVID-19 testing sites are currently open to the public in Nipomo, Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles and Morro Bay.
