San Luis Obispo County added 412 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the county’s total to 12,597 confirmed cases as of January 7.
Health officials say 53 people are hospitalized, including 14 patients who are in intensive care. Another 2,988 people are recovering at home and health officials say 9,432 people have recovered.
According to the California State’s COVID-19 online dashboard, there are currently 13 critical care beds available in San Luis Obispo County.
San Luis Obispo County has had 95 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

- San Luis Obispo – 2465
- California Men’s Colony (detainees) – 1204
- Atascadero – 1,137
- Arroyo Grande – 941
- Nipomo – 878
- Grover Beach – 540
- Ocean – 429
- Templeton – 381
- San Miguel – 341
- Bears – 283
- Cal Poly (campus residents) – 256
- Morro Bay – 252
- Pismo Beach – 196
- Atascadero State Hospital (patients) – 149
- Shandon – 105
- Saint Margaret – 93
- Cambria – 88
- Creston – 57
- Cayucos – 47
- Avila Beach – 21
- Shell Beach – 10
- San Simeon – 9
The location of an additional 55 cases is under investigation and nine more are listed as ‘other’, which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.
Community COVID-19 testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
