Starting this week, the Southern Nevada Health District will begin contacting those eligible to receive their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Second dose allowances are received based on the amount of first doses given, and appointments will only be available to residents who have received their vaccinations at a health district dispensary, the health district said in a report. Press release.
The health district began administering the first doses of Moderna vaccine the week of January 4. The second dose can be given after 28 days.
The health district began administering the first doses of Pfizer vaccine the week of January 18. The second dose of this vaccine can be given after 21 days. The appointment for the second dose will begin the week of February 1. Those eligible for a second appointment in the health district will be notified using the contact information they shared when they received their first dose and will then receive scheduling information.
If someone who received their first dose from a non-health district clinic makes an appointment, they will not be vaccinated and will be advised to contact their original provider to receive their second dose, the statement said.
The health district is in the process of implementing a new registration and nomination system. As the new system is fully implemented, people will have the option to schedule their second appointment at the time of the initial vaccination.
