‘SNL’ asks Dr Fauci to hand out coronavirus vaccines during game show

The NBC variety show kicked off with Kate McKinnon’s Dr Anthony Fauci hosting a new game show called “So You Think You Can Get The Vaccine.”

“The vaccine rollout is going well, but it’s also very confusing,” McKinnon’s Mr Fauci said. “Who can get it? How? When? Where is it? Do the two doses go in the same arm or in different arms or what? I don’t know.”

Along with host Fauci, “So you think you can get the vaccine” had three judges: California Governor Gavin Newsom, played by Alex Moffet; New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, played by Pete Davidson, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, played by Cecily Strong.

The first contestant was a woman from Michigan, played by Heidi Gardner.

“I think I deserve the vaccine because I am an essential worker,” Gardner said.

“That’s good. What are you doing?” Whitmer asked of Strong.

“I do IT for the OnlyFans website, so I’m busy,” Gardner replied.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to get him the vaccine, so they moved on to the next game show contender, which was sponsored by CVS.

“CVS: come here, take a lollipop from two Halloweens ago,” McKinnon’s Fauci said.

The other candidates included a young woman who claimed to be an old woman, a man who claimed to like to smoke, and a pregnant woman.

“Hi, I am pregnant. Can I get the vaccine?” asked the pregnant woman, played by Melissa Villaseñor.

“I don’t know. Can you?” Davidson’s Cuomo asked.

“Sorry, Can I to get vaccinated? Villaseñor asked.

Davidson’s Cuomo explained that he wasn’t trying to correct the woman’s grammar.

“I was really asking. We have no idea,” he said.

The next contestant surprisingly was Senator Ted Cruz, played by Aidy Bryant, who did a standing comedy.

“Oh, it’s great to be back in New York,” said Bryant’s Cruz. “I’m sorry, my arms are tired because I just got back from Cancun.”

The last contestant was an old man, played by Mikey Day. The judges decided that the old man most deserved the vaccine.

Unfortunately, he had to make an appointment online.

“Is there a youngster who can help you?” Whitmer asked of Strong.

“Maybe, the postman?” he said.

But ultimately it didn’t matter, since McKinnon’s Fauci had bad news for the game show.

“I just heard that power has passed to a nearby CVS and all the vaccines are going to expire,” he said. “So it’s first come, first stab.”

Then the group said the show’s tagline, “Live … From New York! It’s Saturday Night!”
