Michigan health officials reported 1,156 new coronavirus cases and 68 deaths as of Saturday, February 27.
Of the deaths, 62 were identified through a routine check of death certificates and none have occurred in the past 24 hours.
The percentage of positive cases, compared to all tests, has remained fairly stable in recent days. As of Friday, the rate was 3.38% based on 35,949 tests.
State health officials have said a rate below 3% is a good indicator the spread of the virus is under control.
On Saturday, the state recorded 587,581 cases of COVID-19 and 15,522 deaths.
The state publishes statistics on coronavirus recoveries once a week.
As of Friday, there were 541,258 recoveries. A recovery is considered a person who is still alive 30 days after the onset of symptoms of COVID-19.
The latest hospitalization data shows 824 people in Michigan hospitals with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 and 195 people in intensive care units. About a week ago, on February 19, there were 843 patients in total, including 217 in the ICU.
As of Friday, 2.13 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine were administered. This includes approximately 1.36 million first doses and 774,000 seconds.
Pfizer and Moderna recommend two doses of the vaccine given weeks apart.
