‘SNL’: Britney Spears makes Ted Cruz and Andrew Cuomo apologize

Saturday Night Live kicked off with a talk show sketch where Britney Spears tried to convince Ted Cruz, Andrew Cuomo and Gina Carano, each after a week filled with scandals.

“You all know me from my upbeat Instagram videos and the word ‘guardianship’. Basically I started this “Whoops You Did It Again” show so people could come and apologize for the things they did wrong, ”Chloe Fineman’s Spears said. “Because after the documentary ‘Free Britney’ comes out, I get hundreds of apologies a day.”

The singer then welcomed this week’s trio of reporters to her talk show, starting with Cruz (Aidy Bryant, reprising the role from last week’s cold open). The Texas senator took the stage with a Pina Colada and fresh luggage from a brief trip to Cancun, where he escaped the devastating winter conditions that plagued his constituents.

“So Ted in Texas is going through a huge crisis, it seems right now,” Spears said. “And you literally gave it up and you flew to Cancun for a family [vacation]. “

“And now I’m in some hot water, which is apparently something that no one in Texas has,” said Cruz of Bryant, who then apologized to the Texans. “I deeply regret my actions over the past few days… especially flying with United.”

The next to apologize was New York Governor Cuomo (Pete Davidson), currently involved in an investigation into the death toll in state nursing homes.

“Some of the people who died in nursing homes were not counted as deaths in nursing homes, they were counted as deaths in hospital,” the governor said. “That’s basically what happens at Disney World, okay? People are dying and they are moving bodies. They say, “Oh, I guess Brenda died in the parking lot, not the cups of tea. So we just did the Disney thing.

After a brief pause to read the questions from the fans – “Are you okay?” to which she responded with a subliminal #FreeBritney – the final guest, now former Mandalorian Actress Carano (Cicely Strong) joined Spears, but refused to apologize.

“I am here for the opposite. I did nothing wrong. No one can even explain what I did wrong. Explain it! ”Said the actress.

“Okay, on Instagram you said the conservatives had it as bad as the people living in Nazi Germany,” Spears said.

“Congratulations, you explained it,” Strong’s Carano said. “Look, I never would have made that Nazi comparison if I had known everyone was going to be a Nazi about it.
