For a few years now, Google has offered affordable variations of its Pixel phones with the Pixel 3a and Pixel 4a. We can only report that the next truly wireless Made by Google headphones will be the “Pixel Buds A”, available in two new colors.
Last year, Google introduced the second generation of Pixel Buds, its first true wireless headphones. According to our sources, for 2021, Google is preparing to extend its range of true wireless headphones with the “Pixel Buds A.” Unsurprisingly, the Pixel Buds A will be almost visually indistinguishable from the current Pixel Buds, except for a few changes in the color scheme. For starters, we can confirm that the Pixel Buds A will be available in two colorways, white and green.
The white model will stand out with an all-white case interior and all-white bud design, compared to the black plastic of the end caps, fenders, and case interior seen on last year’s model for all colors. . Meanwhile, the green Pixel Buds A will use a much darker forest green, rather than the 2020 model’s Quite Mint color. Just like the white colorway, this dark green will be used inside the charging case as well as on the inward-facing parts of the buds such as the tips and wings.
It’s possible that these two colors match the color offerings of the supposed Pixel 5a – just as the Pixel 4 and 2020 Pixel Buds were both available in “Clearly White” and “Oh So Orange” – but so far the color from this phone the options have not leaked.
Like the two generations of Made by Google headphones before them, the Pixel Buds A will offer touch controls for media controls and access to the Google Assistant. The touch controls themselves should be almost identical, if not exactly the same as last year.
The price of the Pixel Buds A is currently unknown, but the “A” designation suggests we might consider a more affordable Made by Google headphone set, just as the Pixel 4a is an affordable alternative to the Pixel 4. With the second – the Generation Pixel Buds currently priced at $ 179, there’s plenty of room for a more affordable bundle in the Made by Google lineup. That said, it’s unclear what cuts Google could make to make these heads more affordable.
When it comes to the launch of these Pixel Buds A, the recently uncovered FCC listings indicate that Google’s latest true wireless earbuds were released somewhere in the middle of the year, rather than as part of the usual drop in launches of material Made by Google. Between those new headphones, the frequently-rumored “Pixel 5a,” and the mysterious device – likely a new Nest camera – which recently went through the FCC, the Made by Google brand appears to be creating a solid lineup of upcoming hardware launches. .
