The launch of Spotify in India is long overdue. It is almost inconceivable that the streaming music giant has yet to penetrate one of the world's largest markets and has attempted to conquer millions of subscribers. But after years of waiting, we're almost there: following recent rumors about the launch of Spotify in India, the app is now available on the Play Store in India and creating an account is possible even if the purchase of a premium subscription does not work smoothly yet.

The Spotify India page still indicates that the service is not available in the country, but if you visit this link, you will be able to register for a 30-day trial. The Premium Rate monthly subscription costs 119 INR (1.67 USD) and a discount of up to 50% can be applied if you are a student, making it an even more enviable price. If a subscription does not seem too attractive, you can buy these unique packs:

  • 1 day: INR 13 ($ 0.18)
  • 7 days: INR 39 ($ 0.55)
  • 1 month: 129 INR ($ 1.81)
  • 3 months: INR 389 ($ 5.47)
  • 6 months: INR 719 ($ 10.11)
  • 1 year: INR 1189 ($ 16.71)

However, it seems that the launch of Spotify in India will not be smooth. The music service is currently in conflict with Warner Music Group for license fees in the country. Hopefully these two will find common ground because any restriction will be to the detriment of the users.
