When playing this sequence, Luke presents the same new line that appears for the first time in the original Rise of Skywalker trailer: "We have transmitted everything we know. 1000 generations live in you now, but it's your fight. We will surely see Luke's phantom power guide Rey to his final fight with the Sith, just as Obi-Wan and Yoda had done for him a generation before.
But will we really see Yoda and Obi-Wan in this sequel? We hope so, especially since Yoda appeared in The Last Jedi and Obi-Wan's voice could be heard in The Force Awakens.
We also see familiar faces in Prequels, reminding us that this film is not only the end of a trilogy, but that of a saga of nine films spanning decades. The shot of Dark Maul seems particularly significant, given what happens at the end of the trailer. Could Maul have survived, just like his former master?
[1:14] The new sequence begins with a look at Rey and his friends on the desert planet of Pasaana.
[1:16] They meet what seems to be a kind of colorful festival filled with tanks and kites. This is perhaps a celebration organized by Aki-Aki, a new breed from Pasaana that is featured in the film.
[1:17] We also have another glimpse of the late Carrie Fisher in the role of Leia, from the remaining footage of The Force Awakens, as she appears to be sending the Rey team on their grand mission.
[1:20] These plans show the beginning of what appears to be a very epic (although unilateral) battle between the Resistance and a huge fleet of Star Destroyers of the time. Apparently, Palpatine had a hiding place.
[1:22] The way the Star Destroyers are so perfectly aligned is interesting. In the wider universe, Emperor Palpatine was shown to have a capability called combat meditation, which allowed him to use the Force to fight his troops more effectively. Could the apparently resurrected emperor have similar power in this film?
[1:24] It seems that newcomer Jannah will join our heroes aboard the Millennium Falcon.
[1:26] This disturbing shot shows a C-3PO with strangely red eyes. The previous trailer showed him wearing a blaster, so it seems that Threepio is the victim of something that makes him more aggressive in this film.
[1:27] This photo shows a beam resembling a death star cutting the surface of a planet. Does the First Order still have another super-weapon? Is this a prototype of the original death star?
[1:30] We can see how much Rey's forces grew up during the year between the events of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, as she throws her sword and grabs it like Mjolnir.
[1:32] We have some pictures of Kylo Ren wandering in the battle and facing Rey atop the half-submerged wreck of the Death Star. We do not know if these two shots are part of the same scene, or even if they are on the same planet.
It is also here that we hear the first piece of Palpatine's new dialogue. He says, "Your journey is coming to an end," but we do not know if he's talking to Ben Solo or Rey.
[1:46] The last shots of the caravan suggest that he speaks to Rey, as we see her apparently succumbing to the dark side and brandishing a new double-bladed lightsaber that bends in half. We have seen swords converted from singles to doubles in cartoons like Star Wars Rebels.
Should we take this revelation for cash? Probably not. The background of this photo looks like the same cave where Rey had her vision in The Last Jedi, suggesting that she would have another vision of what might happen if she fell on the dark side. Basically, his version of Luke's nightmare in Dagobah's cave.
Another possibility is that Palpatine tries to own Rey and make him his new host body, as he was known to do in the EU. This could also explain why the face of Dark Side Rey seems so distorted. The fact that we have not yet seen Palpatine in the flesh in these caravans could suggest that only his spirit remains alive to wreak havoc on the galaxy.
As far as we know, this Rey could be a clone. She could be forced to fight her nasty doppelganger, just as Luke did in the EU.
