Start again at zero – This week in the games

[ad_1]

Hello everyone! It's the holiday weekend and there is a lot going on! PAX West is going on this weekend alongside Crunchyroll Expo, which means that there is a lot of news going on for people who care about anime and games. Clearly, most games ads will come from PAX, and some have even announced in advance, like Knight shovel dig. It interests me, because, hey, who does not like this good little guy?

Of course, some other ads are likely to fall, so I expect to have a lot to report next week. There is also a Persona 5 RoyalThis weekend, in Japan, there may be juicy details …

… wait, I totally forgot that Ryu ga Gotoku's team was organizing an event last night! Aw shit! The big news begins already! Well, it seems we have our main topic for this week's column …

THIS IS WHAT ICHIBAN KASUGA LAUNCHES THEIR YAKUZA 7

We know for a long time that Kiryu Kazuma would not come back as the main character of Yakuza 7. In fact, some time ago, we met the new protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga.

However, until now, we have never seen Ichiban Kasuga under any circumstances derived from the game gacha based on a browser or browser. Ryu ga Gotoku online, so this marks his debut in a number Ryu ga Gotoku / Yakuza series game. I hesitate to call it a "good" Ryu ga Gotoku play because … well, we'll get there.

Whatever it is, here is the first trailer of the game, subtitled "Places where light and darkness are:"

The new executive is in Yokohama, a suburb of Tokyo often overshadowed by the mega-city next to it. Like Kiryu, Kasuga was a young yakuza who took the fall for a crime he did not commit. After his release and his return to Kamurocho, he found himself overwhelmed by the crime. KansaiOmi Alliance. And who runs the "new" Kamurocho, but his former boss, Masumi Arakawa. Kasuga was waiting at a meeting filled with tears, but instead, he was shot and his body was left unceremoniously in the slums of Yokohama. Kasuga is at the bottom, with nothing to lose – can he go back to the top?

The story resembles that of the original Yakuza, where Kiryu came out of jail and was immediately persona non grata in his former crew, and I'm sure it's not a coincidence: Kasuga's story is supposed to be a "restart" for series. But there is something else about Yakuza 7 it makes fans in zizi …

Remember the April Fools joke in which Ryu ga Gotoku Studio was essentially: "What if Yakuza's fight was a turn-based RPG fight?" And we were all like "Haha, yeah, that would be really great!" … it's true. Yakuza 7 is no longer a brawler, but a turn-based RPG. I bet you did not see it coming! What do you think of this turn of events, Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada?

I agree! I do not think anyone expected this kind of radical change in a number Yakuza Gotoku Studio is keen to point out that the new protagonist is synonymous with new style of play. Basically, aside from a few familiar places and characters, this is a completely clean start to the series. (In addition, the team mentioned that Kasuga was a fan specifically of Dragon Quest and mentions in the game, which, I'm sure, is an effort to really pound the house that it's a whole different kind of Yakuza.)

Although I like the fights in the previous Yakuza games, I am honestly happy for a Yakuza RPG! Some people have compared the interface to Characterbut looking at that, I really have more Mario RPGlike vibrations.

And that's not a bad thing because Mario RPG it's very good! If they can translate Yakuza's fight into turn-based battles in the same way Mario RPG skillfully transformed the platform action into command-directed fights, I am quite!

… However, this reinforces my theory that many jokes about the "April Fool" of game developers are actually testing crazy new ideas that the audience will not be thrilled at. Make it a joke, see if people look like "whoa, it's really great and I really would like it!", Then continue if the reception is positive enough. It's sneaky, but it makes sense.

Reports from sources such as Gematsu indicate that the Western version will completely remove the title number, calling the game Yakuza: Like a dragon. I wonder if they are worried that the quarterback will not destabilize those who would buy the game if it were called Yakuza 7? In addition, the Japanese subtitle seems annoying in English, so I'm not surprised Sega from America went with something totally different. We will have this in 2020, probably about six months after the release of the Japanese version in January.

Phew! This is a lot of news about crime boys. But it was not the only announcement we had this week …

MEGAMAN ZERO AND ZX ROCKING IN A NEW COLLECTION

In the last two years, CAPCOM was on a mission to reassure the fans that yes, they really care about Megaman. First the classic Megaman collections inherited from the series and then Megaman X Legacy Collections, then Megaman 11. But CAPCOM do not stop there!

Yes, they dive head first into the era of handhelds Megaman fallout, pack the Gameboy Advance Megaman Zero games and the Nintendo DS Megaman ZX games in a small, tidy set on all major platforms. They also made a great trailer!

This is not the first time that the Megaman Zero Games have been reissued – there was a collection for DS a long time ago – but this marks the first time that they will be playable on the big screen without GameCube GBA adapters. This is the very first re-release of the ZX games, however, and thankfully, CAPCOMGives players a variety of options from which to choose to present two low resolution screens on a modern HD screen.

My personal thoughts on the collection: The Megaman Zero the games have never really clicked, mainly because the ranking system of these games is punitive and frustrating. (Cool, I miss boss skills – the whole thing Megaman is built around – by using other beneficial gaming mechanisms, this is awesome.) I can not say enough good things about Megaman ZX, although. It's easily one of my favorite games in the series – a clever blend of Metroidvania style exploration and Megaman shooting and platform. ZX Advent is a little less inspired, but still fun.

Hmmm, I wonder if CAPCOM will restore cut items, such as dubbing, in the English version of Megaman ZX? That would be nice, but considering that they again have not corrected Megaman X6 notoriously horrible translation after so many years, I do not hope. (Again, it's not like X6 was worth it.)

REDISCOVER YOUR CHILD TRAUMA WITH THE ALADDIN AND LION KING CLASSIC COLLECTION

Oh yes, back in the 16-bit era, when developers and publishers were terrified Rentals of blockbusters nibbling sales of games, making them stupidly difficult, so that little Timmy would not beat him at the weekend and decided that it was not worth it to be on his Christmas list. It's odd to see that gaming rentals are no longer a problem – it's been a crucial part of my childhood, allowing me to play a bunch of games that the magazines have. At the time were screwing up and who realized "uh, hey, in fact, it is not the case". Not so great! But that's what I got stuck with for the weekend, so I had to try to enjoy. I distinctly remember one of those not so big games The Lion King.

So imagine my, um, delight hearing that a whole new generation of players will experience the "pleasure" of being subjected to peaks of stupid difficulties within The Lion King first levels in Disney Classics: Aladdin and the Lion King!

When the word of this set was first announced, I was rather excited because it would have the SNES and Genesis versions of Aladdin. What is the best version of Aladdin has been the subject of heated debates in schoolyards and on the Internet for over twenty-five years: the SNES game, one of the first Shinji Mikami project, did not have the impressive animation and visual frills of the Genesis version, but neither did it have a hitbox BS or imprecise platform. Since most people only had one console or the other, it would have been nice to see the version that they probably missed and get their own idea, but I guess the licensing powers in place could not solve anything.

While the SNES AladdinThe omission is disappointing, Digital Eclipse, an unparalleled restaurateur, promises other interesting features like tight gameplay (even mentioning specifically the correction of Aladdin hitboxes), several versions of each game and a "watch mode" that plays through the games and allows you to take the controller at any time because God live these blind jumps in Elephant Graveyard I never want to play this terrible scene again

I really wonder how many people will get this collection, play these games and realize that their beautiful childhood memories of Genesis Aladdin and The Lion King It was more like "it was one of the only games I had at the time, so I had to force my way through all those ill-conceived nonsense." At least, the animation always looks friendly!

Anyway, it's our turn of play filled with crime and retro games for this week. Are you going to PAX or CRX this weekend or are you just planning to stay home, catch up online and play? Astral chain? Do you have particularly strong feelings about YakuzaNew direction? Discuss below in the forums!
