A look at what’s going on around the majors today:

COMFORT ZONE

JD Martinez, Kiké Hernandez and the Boston Red Sox will certainly be delighted to be back home for Game 3 of the AL Division Series against the Rays with the best of five games tied at 1-all.

Tampa Bay’s Brandon Lowe might not care either.

Lowe has produced 0.455 (10 for 22) with eight walks at Fenway Park this season and is a career 0.444 hitter in Boston, where the next two ALDS games will be played. In 16 games in Boston, he’s 24 of 54 for his highest batting average at any stadium with six home runs, 16 RBIs and a base percentage of 0.551.

“It’s just something, playing Boston with the (green) monster over there on the left, it’s a heartwarming feeling that if I’m stuck I think I can hit a ball at 310 (feet) and hopefully get a shot off that wall, ”Lowe said. “I’m not jumping and trying to do something special.

“Honestly, this is one of my favorite places to hit. It’s just a relaxing place for me, ”he said.

WAIT, DID …

An irrelevant twin had double wins in the NL Division Series between the Dodgers and Giants.

Minnesota reliever Taylor Rogers was at Oracle Park to watch his twin brother, Giants reliever Tyler Rogers, for the first time throw in the majors. Taylor Rogers sat down with Tyler’s wife Jenn Rogers, who posted on Instagram that Taylor was getting weird looks from the San Francisco devotees.

In his playoff debut, Tyler Rogers struck out his lone hitter in the eighth inning with a 4-0 win in Game 1.

“I had fun watching people get confused when I saw (Taylor) in the stands thinking it was (Tyler) lol,” Jenn Rogers wrote.

STOP AND EXIST

Trying to avoid a sweep, the White Sox will pitch Dylan Cease in the ALDS ‘third game against Houston.

The Astros have won the first two games at home, beating Chicago 15-5, and AL Rookie of the Year contender Luis Garcia (11-8, 3.30 ERA) will be looking to land it for them.

Cease tied Carlos Rodón for the team lead in wins while going 13-7 with a 3.91 ERA in 32 starts. Manager Tony La Russa has said Rodón could pitch a potential Game 4 on Monday after being limited in the regular season due to shoulder pain and fatigue.

VACANCY

The Pirates have an opening for a third baseman after firing Joey Cora.

Cora, 56, older brother of Boston manager Alex Cora, held the position for five seasons. The Pirates announced the move on Saturday, less than a week after finishing 61-101 and last in NL Central.

Cora has often been criticized by Pittsburgh fans for aggressively praising the runners at home. The Pirates have ranked among the major league leaders in strikeouts.

Cora, a second baseman for most of his 11 years in the big leagues, has also worked with the Pittsburgh infielders. The Pirates have made just 70 mistakes this season, the least in the majors.
