State reports say 47 more Iowans have died from COVID-19

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa Department of Public Health has reported that 47 other Iowa residents have died from COVID-19. This is a new record for one-day deaths reported in the state since the start of the pandemic.

The state has also reported another 3,365 Iowans who tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.

As of 10:30 a.m. on November 25, the state’s website showed that a total of 218,947 Iowans had tested positive and a total of 2,271 Iowans had died from the virus since the start of the pandemic.

According to data the state makes available, the positivity rate in the past 24 hours was 39.3%.

There are currently 1,305 Iowans hospitalized with the virus, of which 198 were admitted in the past 24 hours. Of the hospitalized patients, 269 are in intensive care and 150 are on ventilators.

The White House Coronavirus Task Force’s weekly report, released on November 22, still showed significant viral activity in Iowa. However, the task force said it was “encouraged by the action taken by Governor Reynolds in his recent proclamation of disaster emergency.”
