The first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds went into production last month in Canada, and now we’re starting to see who will join Captain Pike, Spock and number one aboard the USS Enterprise.

New strange worlds add five

On Friday Paramount +, the streaming house of the new Star Trek universe announced five new cast members for the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Babs Olusanmokun (Black mirror, Dune), Christina Chong (Tom and Jerry, Black mirror), Celia Rose Gooding (Little jagged pill), Jess Bush (Skinford, The Nortons) and Melissa Navia (Dietland, Billion) are all on board like regulars of the series.

They join Anson Mount as Captain Pike, Ethan Peck as Spock, and Rebecca Romijn as number one. Paramount + has yet to reveal the roles played by the new actors, but they have released a video featuring the entire cast talking about starting production on the new series.

Today’s announcement also included a new official synopsis for the series:

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is based on the years Captain Christopher Pike led the USS Enterprise. The series will feature fan favorites from season two of Star Trek: Discovery, Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock. The series will follow Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock, and Number One through the years before Captain Kirk boarded the USS Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.

It was also revealed today that the series premiere was written by executive producer and co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman with the story of Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet. Goldsman is also directing the first episode. In a statement, Goldsman said:
