Stripe limits payments from “high-risk” businesses, including those that “engage in, encourage, promote or celebrate unlawful violence or physical harm to people or property,” according to its website statement on the activities restricted.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Trump’s campaign paid Stripe more than $ 1.8 million in the 2020 election cycle, according to Federal Election Commission records.
Trump’s campaign and political operation last month reported raising more than $ 207 million between polling day and early December as he flooded his supporters with emails and texts asking for donations to help to challenge the election results. A growing chunk of the money, however, has gone to a leadership political action committee that Trump created to help fund his post-White House activities.
Updated figures on Trump’s latest fundraiser are not yet public.
