As COVID-19 cases are on the decline in the United States, new reports from the CDC warn that COVID mutations could cause a “rapid rise” in coronavirus cases.
In a report, researchers from the CDC and the Minnesota Health Department detailed cases of the variant first identified in the UK.
Previous data suggested that the variant – which may be more transmissible – could become the predominant variant in the United States in March, and officials are urging people to take action to reduce the spread.
“When your turn to get vaccinated comes, get vaccinated. It is not only good for you, your family and your community, it will have a very big impact on the dynamics of the epidemic in our country,” he said. Dr Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said during a White House press briefing on COVID-19 on Wednesday, February 17.
Fauci now says it may be until May or June that all Americans will have access to the vaccine.
