WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – This is the true definition of reuse and recycling.
Stuff Recycling in Winchester has been around for thirteen years.
It is the largest locally owned recycling company in central and eastern Kentucky, bringing approximately $ 30 million to Clark County and surrounding areas with its operations.
His installation, however, was as old as the 1800s… until about two years ago.
“We built a new facility over the existing facility and again, which had been open since the late 1800s, so we recycle all metals, non-fairs, seven fairs, computers and electronic waste,” said owner Jerry Joiner.
But, the celebration of the new facility was put on hold due to the pandemic, until Thursday, when the shear of a piece of metal commemorated the event instead of a ribbon cut.
“We’re just trying to celebrate and let anyone go out and have a free tour of the facility,” Joiner said.
The pandemic, however, is not preventing the company from working wisely. Joiner says that as a core business, they were able to pull through.
“In a general sense, business was probably 60-70% easy, so it was really tough, but then again, that’s probably what made us feel better than anything.”
Hoping now to continue to have an economic impact on the region with his future plans.
They are working on the continued expansion of the veteran-owned business, which may occur in Clark County.
But Joiner says otherwise the expansion will stay in the central and eastern Kentucky region.
“We live here, our employees live here, we support everything we can do in central and eastern Kentucky, our future growth is what’s on our plate for the next 24 to 36 months.”
Joiner says they are also working with the bluegrass community and the technical college to provide additional educational opportunities for students interested in the business field.
