Second part

Final – Gonzaga 83, Baylor 71: Behind Brandon Clarke's monster game, Gonzaga once again started for Sweet 16.

Clarke's 36 points are an NCAA tournament record in Gonzaga. Quite the impact for the San Jose State Junior Transfer.

Much credit was given to Baylor, who was born in the second half, but the first 20 minutes of play were too difficult for the Bears to overcome.

Many Gonzaga players spent the night, but the duo Clarke and Corey Kispert had enough offensive so the Zags could move on.

3:19 – Gonzaga 74, Baylor 63: Mark Vital's fault is a sore spot for Baylor. With him sitting on four meetings, GU could go inside and score easily.

The Bears have had some waves for the game to reach a number, but the depth and slow start hurt the Bears.

Bulldogs continue to go to Brandon Clarke and the great man continues to deliver. Clarke got 34 points, just two from his career high at San Jose State.

Corey Kispert remains the only other Gonzaga player to score two digits with 13 points.

The Bulldogs looking to hold and play against Florida State in Thursday's Sweet 16 game.

7:35 – Gonzaga 64, Baylor 53: A big three-pointer pointer from Josh Perkins and a quick focus from Corey Kispert as Baylor drove the GU to a lower number.

Brandon Clarke returns to the ground after a short break. Its impact is instant after a nice home defense stops a 2-on-1 opportunity for the Bears.

Killian Tillie participates in the action by scoring a first goal for Clarke.

Bulldogs leaving Baylor to stay on the hunt with some mental errors. Kispert claimed a technical foul after provoking a Baylor player. Tillie then catches her fourth foul on a touch in the paint after a Baylor pass.

11:46 – Gonzaga 55, Baylor 44: We're starting to look like broken records here at Live Updates, but Brandon Clarke presents a performance for the ages tonight in Salt Lake City.

Josh Perkins tries a lane and comforter with Killian Tillie hanging, bouncing on the iron, but Clarke is right there for the thunder to snap at 26 points.

After a break from Clarke on the bench, Corey Kispert picked up the lead, which meant he was stopped in the first period with a 3-pointer. He has 11 points.

Not wanting to feel excluded, Zach Norvell Jr. follows Kispert's treble with one of his own for seven points.

Three Baylor players are also in double digits. Mark Vital's 12 points lead the Bears, followed by 10 points each for Makai Mason and Jared Butler.

3:32 pm – Gonzaga 45, Baylor 38: The Bulldogs go out of time and get some buckets, including a Brandon Clarke score to bring the big man to 22 points, but Baylor continues to respond.

The Bears move the ball much better this half against the defense of Gonzaga. Baylor has some of his most physical players who have problems, since Mark Vital, who guard Clarke, takes his fourth goal.

The Bulldogs still do not manage to involve much Rui Hachimura. The Naismith finalist has only two points, both from the free throw line in the opening minutes. he is 0 for 3 of the ground.

18h08 – Gonzaga 39, Baylor 33: And just like that, bears have come out of hibernation.

Baylor is on fire, scoring the first 10 points of the half to reduce the lead in Gonzaga to eight.

GUA coach Mark Few is calling for a quick turnaround time to get his team up and running.

First half

Half time – Gonzaga 39, Baylor 23: A heck of a half by Brandon Clarke, who leads all scorers with 18 points.

The Zags shoot 55.6% overall and 27.3% over 3 points in the half, while keeping the Bears at 29.6% of the ground and 10% of the depth.

The very quiet half of Rui Hachimura looks a lot like the defeat against Saint Mary's. The big difference is that everyone is doing well for the Zags.

Baylor gets his share of second chance shots with seven offensive rebounds, but he can not defeat the mediocre shots and six turnovers.

Jared Butler boosts Baylor with 10 points. He has three mistakes, however.

On the Gu side, Hachimura, Killian Tillie and Geno Crandall each made two mistakes.

In the future, if the Zags manage to retain Baylor, it will be a rematch against Florida State in the Sweet 16. The Seminoles hit state Murray by the end of the second round.

4:12 – Gonzaga 35, Baylor 18: The Zags did not have much trouble finding their shot in Salt Lake City. The Bulldogs shot 63.6% overall and 42.9% from deepest to now, while maintaining Baylor at 30.4% of the ground and 11.1% of the 3-point range .

Corey Kispert having himself quite the game. The second-year wing has eight points after his second triple of the match.

Baylor does not manage to feel comfortable in a single defensive set, which seems to do more harm to the Bears than to the Zags. Baylor has gone from man to zone and back several times already in this one.

Brandon Clarke with one of his best offensive half of the season. The junior striker counts up to 16 points on 8 out of 10 shots.

8:30 – Gonzaga 23, Baylor 13: Josh Perkins' tremendous running recognition is fast enough to allow Brandon Clarke to run away for slam.

Baylor does not deal very well with basketball (5 turnovers), but a lot of that has to be attributed to Gonzaga's active hands down the hall.

One of the things Baylor hurts GU is his work on the boards. The Bears already have five offensive rebounds.

Jared Butler pacing Baylor with seven points, while Brandon Clarke has ten for the Zags

11.45 – Gonzaga 19, Baylor 9: The first points of the match for Rui Hachimura come from the line of free throws after being fouled before 16 minutes.

The zags start to pick up at the Bears inside as they return directly to Brandon Clarke due to a lag. This leads to a nice background game for GU that translates into a Corey Kispert treble.

Kispert up to five points after a layback lay-up on a lay-up of Zach Norvell Jr.

Zags does a fantastic job getting his hands in the alleys of Baylor. Bears has had four turnovers, the last of which led to a big slam with two hands Brandon Clarke.

Sign that things are going well for the Zags, Geno Crandall is trying to make a pass to Brandon Clarke, but the ball falls in the place of a 3 pointers. Crandall can simply smile and shake his head as the leader of the group reaches two digits.

3:49 pm – Baylor 7, Gonzaga 5: It was much more like an early NCAA tournament test, while the Bears were shooting a few quick shots.

Josh Perkins had some early successes, going all the way to the bottom of the basket. The senior guard scores the first points of the Zags game on a good shot and finishes, followed by an attack where he is injured and hits one of the two free throws.

Baylor is not the biggest team in the tournament, but they are not afraid to challenge Brandon Clarke and the Zags.

Speaking of Clarke, the big man gets his first points of the match on a nice post and finishes. The other big GU player, Rui Hachimura, has not tried his luck yet.
