Summer Wells’ father – a 5 year old Tennessee girl who faded away from her family’s home in June – said her three sons had been taken from her home by child welfare authorities, saying “it was probably better for them” because of false theories and speculation about what happened to the girl caused him to drink.
Donald Wells confirmed the boys’ withdrawal this month during an interview on the “Jay is 4 Justice” podcast this weekend, WJHL-TV reported.
“They came up to me and said – either by posing – that they had the scoop with TBI (Tennessee Bureau of Investigation) and that they knew I had sold my daughter for drugs, and I freaked out. . Jennifer Youngblood. “I believed that stuff. Like an idiot I believed it and freaked out and started drinking and everything. And that’s why they took our children. “
In another interview with the Kingsport Times-News, Wells said the Children’s Services Department removed the boys from the house but did not explain why. The move comes amid a week-long effort to find Summer Wells, who went missing on June 15 from the Rogersville home.

Tennessee search and rescue teams aren’t abandoning the search for Summer Wells after the 5-year-old went missing several weeks ago, but crews are “scaling back” their efforts.

Several massive searches have been carried out in the region since. Donald Wells said the boys were removed from the house for their own safety.
“Right now it’s not safe with me,” Wells told the newspaper. “Too much is happening and people are crazier than hell, and right now it’s just not safe in my house. Too much is happening. Too many crazy people are coming out trying to start things. things.”
“We had a few people come in the middle of the night. We had one – I don’t think he’ll be coming back to us anymore,” he added.
He did not say where the boys were taken or for how long. A spokeswoman for the Department of Children’s Services told Fox News the agency is participating in the investigation but could not provide further comment.
Wells and his wife, Candus Bly, both said they believed Summer Wells had been abducted from their 11-acre property along a rural road. Bly said she brought the girl inside the garden and left her with her three brothers. They lost her track within minutes and she has not been seen since, she said.
Investigators say the circumstances surrounding his disappearance have yet to be determined – but said they were investigating “all possibilities.”
Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson told the newspaper on Monday that social media was causing unsubstantiated rumors about the case to be taken as fact by some.
“There is a lot of incorrect information and a lot of advice coming from social media that is hampering the investigation with things that we have already done on multiple occasions,” he said.
Summer Wells was last seen at her home in Rogersville, TN on June 15. Donald Wells has confirmed that his three sons were taken from the family home this month.

Investigators were looking for a red pickup truck, possibly a late 1990s Toyota, which may have been in the Ben Hill Road area on June 15 and 16. She had full-size ladder racks and white buckets in the bed.

Summer stands about 3 feet tall and weighs about 40 pounds. Her blonde hair is believed to be shorter than it looks in most of the photos of her authorities released to help with the search.
