EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) – A Sun Metro bus crashed into a house in eastern El Paso early Friday morning, causing extensive damage and sending the bus driver to hospital.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Anise Drive.

Officials said the bus driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for observation; no other injuries were reported and it was not clear if anyone was inside the house at the time of the accident.

El Paso police were investigating the crash, but offered no initial clues as to what may have caused it.

The city of El Paso, which operates the Sun Metro transit system, said it would also conduct an internal review of the incident. A spokesperson said the bus was fitted with cameras and footage would be collected and viewed.

The city said the owner could file a claim with the city attorney’s office to seek compensation for damage to their property. Although the damage to the house appeared to be extensive, no damage estimate was immediately available.
